 “We move to create visibility\,\n
to honor our histories and identities\,\n
 to disrupt oppression and dominance\,\n
 to challenge silence and fear\,\n
 because we are everywhere\,\n
 because we must survive”\n
 *********************************************************\n
 When is the March?\n
 Saturday\, June 23\, 2012\; gather at 2:00 p.m. at Margate Park\;
 Step off at 3:00 p.m. sharp.\n
 Where is the Uptown neighborhood?\n
 - The Uptown neighborhood spans from the south at
Wilson/Broadway\, to east Marine Dr.\, and going north to Argyle.
The Argyle/Uptown neighborhood is also known as “Little
Vietnam” or Viet town due to the predominantly Vietnamese
retail stores\, restaurants\, and community organizations in this
area. However\, the Uptown neighborhood is also a beautiful mix
of many other diverse communities or non-English and new
immigrants finding affordable housing and a great support
 system.\n
 \n
What community organizations are in the area?\n
 - To name a few… South-east Asia Center\, Vietnamese
Association of Illinois\, Chinese Mutual Aid Association\, Asian
American Institute\, Apna Ghar\, and Asian Human Services.
There’s also Inspiration Cafe and Uplift Charter High School.\n
 \n
What kind of restaurants are there?\n
 - The typical Vietnamese restaurant is Pho restaurants (the beef
broth soup usually eaten for breakfast\, but eaten at lunch and
dinner here in the US). There are plenty of various Pho
restaurants to select from. There are also many other ethnic
restaurants such as Thai\, and Asian BBQ\, and Chinese bakeries.
We are working with some of these restaurants to form a mutually
beneficial partnership in some way or another. We hope that the
day of the March\, we will see signs in the windows of some of
 the businesses who are supportive!\n
 - Do you have a favorite restaurant or store??? Think about
putting in a “good word” for the Dyke March!\n
 \n
 Will the route be accessible?\n
 - Yes\, the route will be approximately one mile long and all the
sidewalks have an incline and decline. We are conscious of trying
to make the March and rally as accessible and anti-oppressive as
possible for all the diverse Dyke community members.\n
 \n
By CTA: You can take the Red Line and exit at eL stops Lawrence
or Argyle. You can also take buses #36 Broadway and #151
 Sheridan.\n
 \n
By Car: There are a few inexpensive paid parking lots as well as
 paid street meter parking available.\n

 age\, size\, gender identity\, gender expression\, sexuality\,
 culture\, immigrant status\, spirituality\, and ability.\n
