On Saturday, June 9, join ARTLOG and ArtAssure on an Upper East Side Crawl, an exciting opportunity to explore the area’s famed galleries and hear directly from the curators. The galleries of the Upper East Side are world-renown for their collections of both historic and modern art, presented in some of the most beautiful spaces in Manhattan. The exhibitions on the crawl span 19th century portraiture to contemporary painting.

ARTLOG has hosted over a dozen art crawls and is excited about presenting its first Crawl on the Upper East Side. In this self-guided event, you will be able to follow a schedule of talks throughout the afternoon. At each gallery you will learn about the works on view, new artists, and art world trends, all the while enjoying drinks and snacks. The evening ends with an after-party (location TBA).

Edelman Arts – On view is Unnatural History, the latest show by painter Christopher Winter, an Englishman now residing in Berlin. The gallery is filled with works intended to suspend disbelief and alter perceptions.

Venus Over Manhattan – This new gallery was founded as a curatorial platform for exhibitions and projects that expand upon the conventional gallery format through collaborations with artists, dealers, collectors, curators, and institutions. À rebours, the current exhibition, was inspired by the anti-novel by J.K. Huysmans and explores the notion of “against the grain” through a selection of more than 50 works including African fetishes.

Gerald Peters Gallery – The latest exhibition Defining Modern presents works by twenty-six American artists whose diverse aesthetics defied simple classification as they defined modernist art of the first half of the Twentieth Century.

Freedman Arts – The renown gallery presents Frank Stella: New Works. In the exhibition Stella, widely acclaimed as one of America’s most influential and inventive artists, continues to explore and forge new ground with his most recent relief sculpture, the Scarlatti Kirkpatrick series, initiated in 2006.

Keno Auctions – Founded by Antiques Roadshow’s Leigh Keno, Keno Auctions is widely recognized as the expert for fine and decorative arts. Their current sale, Important American and European Paintings, presents an exceptional selection of 74 works by important American and European artists from the 16th through 20th centuries.

Kezler Gallery – On view is Marco Glaviano: Supermodels, highlighting the most celebrated photographs of Marco Glaviano (b. 1942), famous for pioneering the “supermodels” movement. Glaviano’s photographs of prominent figures such as Cindy Crawford, Paulina Porizkova, Claudia Schiffer, and Eva Herzigova earned him a reputation among the world’s leading fashion photographers.

Hauser & Wirth – Up now is an exciting exhibition titled Science on the back end. Artists selected by Matthew Day Jackson. For the show, Jackson selected five artists that inspire him, gave them each a room in the gallery, and allowed each to select the works they wanted to present.
