Austin Boogie Crew (ABC) is a funk collective specializing in music from the late 70’s and early 80’s. The genre that ABC derives its inspiration from is boogie: a dance-oriented brand of music that bridges the gap between quality disco and bass-heavy funk.

The members of ABC channel their love for the musicality and sentiment of the boogie era to create an instantly palatable sound rarely heard elsewhere in Austin. Founders Spence and Danbone have made a splash in the local scene with their DJ night “The Boogie,” an all-vinyl affair showcasing original records with the aim of making a great party.

ABC have brought their signature sound to venues like The Beauty Ballroom, The Volstead, and Loft 718, sharing stages with acts like Dam-Funk (Stones Throw) and Afrolicious (ESL Music). One record at a time, Austin Boogie Crew continues to prove that boogie does indeed have its place in Texas. Check out ABC every second Wednesday night of the month at Plush in downtown Austin.
