Welcome to Viking Party People's annual Traditional Swedish Midsummer party. This is THE biggest Swedish holiday which is unmissable if you are in London. The last few years we have been well over a thousand Swedes (and wanna-be Swedes) celebrating it in Hyde Park. And it's all for free! This year we are hoping for another sunny day (check out:
www.optimistic-weather.com) and expect another great turn out where people have fun day out. Finns Worldwide have joined us the past couple of years will again be there as well and we welcome everyone else to also to join us!
In general this is just a huge picnic with loads of alcohol... but much much better!

WHAT TO BRING
Bring some picnic food with you if you're not a Swede (I don't have to tell you Swedes what to bring to eat), LOADS of alcohol (including bottles of Snaps) as you will be there for many hours, and an open mind to weird dances. A cooling bag is highly recommended to bring so you can have cold beers, wines etc. throughout the day. If you happen to have some sunshine to spare, please bring that with you as well.
SONGBOOK
From the moment you arrive you will be asked (but not forced) to drink a lot of booze (beer, cider wine etc.) and about every 15min - 30min you will "have to" down a shot of snapps/schnapps after a funny Swedish drinking song (most Swedes will know them by hart or bring a drinking song books with them - but if you don't have a snaps songbook, then just e-mail me on joakim@vikingparty.com and I'll send one over to you which I have made especially for this party).
DANCING
I know a lot of you were looking forward to watching and taking part in the traditional Swedish dancing around the midsummer pole. Unfortunately this year we haven't got the licence to erect the pole or organise the dancing as Hyde Park has new stringent safety and security measures which we unfortunately are unable to meet. So if you like to still dance, you will have to just create a ring of people and sing along yourself. I apologise for this but Health & Safety will not stop us from at least celebrating midsummer by having a great day out, damn it!
A tip for some of the foreign guys and girls are to take a cold shower before you go as the party will be swarming with hot Scandinavians.
WHERE ARE WE
We will be in the North-East part of Hyde Park. Check out (and maybe print out) this map to be able to find us more easily:

AFTERPARTY @ The Mayfair Club - 50 Dover Street
When the evening arrives, everyone is welcome to come and join us at the official VPP after party which this year will take place at The Mayfair Club. Doors open at 22:30 and we will be partying there until 06:00 in the morning! To avoid disappointments, please turn up early as we expect to fill the club fairly quickly. Make sure you mention that you are on the "VIKING" guest list when you arrive and you will get in cheaper and be able to queue jump!!! The place will be playing the best commercial, R&B and funky house music and we are hoping to have a fantastic live act surprise for you as well. Tables are available to reserve if you like to party like a proper rock star (minimum spend apply). Please contact me on joakim@vikingparty.com if your interested in table reservations. Final details of this party will be messaged out to you all shortly... but remember that "VIKING" guest list is the magic word when you arrive!
PLEASE NOTE
For legal reasons, only groups of 40 or less can have a picnic in Hyde Park without a licence. So this party is officially only for 40 people - But it doesn't stop many different groups of up to 40 each to have picnics next to each other. So the annual picnic will still go ahead as usual - only that officially this will only have 40 VPP people attending. All other people will be there as different groups that happened to be very close to the other groups. So if any park ranger ask, you are NOT with VPP but with your own little group having a picnic - which they can't say anything about. I would appreciate if you can all also take away all your own rubbish when you leave!
Don't forget to invite all your friends to attend this great day and night! And if you like parties like this, you are welcome to join the Viking Party People group here on Facebook (for free!) to get invitations to our fun parties and club nights.
See you all on Saturday!
