Bahrain broke up in 2005 after playing shows for 5 years, touring the US once and releasing one full-length CD and one EP. We always felt like the set and songs we were working on toward the end of the band were some of our best efforts, so in 2010 bassist SL Telles convinced bassist/keyboardist Colleen Gugan and engineer B. Baker (Baby Robots, ST 37) to complete some vocal tracks on some unfinished demos begun by Matt Turner (Rubble, Same Sack) and "REST" was born. After a withering track reduction/selection process by Telles and drummer Melissa Johanningsmeier and a painstaking mastering job by Sean Seagler (My Education, SoundMass) the record was finished. We decided to play a show to inaugurate the release. So...this is your ONE and ONLY chance to see this band...use it or lose it, yo.
Joining us are our good frenz the Tetrahedons, featuring noise overlord and studio guru Doug Ferguson, Primordial Undermind/Bahrain US tour veteran Joe Volpi (Kaiser Soze/The Hot as Shits) and keyboard wizard Kirk Laktas, as well as the ubiquitous Jonathan Horne on guitar and the rocknroll backbeat of Kevin Fowler (Andrew) on the drums. Headlining the evening are the raging, righteous rock sounds of the Gary. With their new Steve Albini-recorded LP "El Camino" ringing in our ears, they'll close out the evening so we can all get drunk and enjoy the sounds of a real rock band before going gently into that good night. Be there, aloha!
