The mission of the MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY/ MISS TIP OF SOUTH TEXAS Scholarship Organization is to provide financial assistance to students for higher education through yearly scholarships, as well as educate them in the importance of community involvement. The Scholarship Fund is committed to help mold our youth into sound citizens and people of character and integrity by encouraging them to continue their education and community service.
Working in conjunction with the community, schools and parents, it is our intention to provide experiences designed to address the needs of young people. Our resources will be used to provide incentives, motivation, and support that stimulate social, academic and professional success among children in our community.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The 2012 MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND MISS TIP OF SOUTH TEXAS Pageant “DIAMOND JUBILEE PAGEANT” will be held on Saturday, AUG 4, 2012 at 7:00pm, at the Edinburg North High School Performing Arts Building.(Red Carpet Event starts at 6:00PM) . The new Miss and Teen , will compete at the State level under the direction of Texas Select Productions, Executive Director Vicki Lynn Chrysler for the Miss Texas / Miss America in all of South Texas (Dates to be determined)
REMEMBER: Your placement in the pageant will be determined by the order in which we receive a contestant’s paperwork: First in, last out. Please send your entry forms in ASAP. Deadline for all other paperwork is July 28, 2012.
Eligibility and AGE REQUIREMENTS: The Miss and Teen Titles are Open to all residents of Texas. Miss contestants must be between 17 and 24 years of age. Contestants must be 17 years old and a High School Senior by the time of their first appearance in a preliminary round of the local or state competition and no older than 24 years of age on December 31, 2013. Miss contestants must be high school graduates or have successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency or have successfully completed the academic requirements for entry into a four year college/university degree program by July of 2013. Teen contestants must be 13 years of age by the first day of the state competition, and no older than 17. COMPETITION: No Experience Required / Competition will include the following:
1) Interview: Miss contestants will have a 9 ½ minute judge’s private interview. At the end of 9 ½ minutes, the contestant will have 30 seconds to cover any additional issues that she would like to comment on or clarify. Teen contestants have an 8 minute interview with no introduction or closing. (Miss – 25% of Score, Teen – 35% of Score)
2) Physical Fitness in Swimsuit: Miss contestants will model a one-piece or two-piece swimsuit with heels. Any swimsuit, in good taste may be worn. Teens will model in any style of aerobic/active wear clothing as long as the wardrobe is in good taste and is not swimwear, and does not “resemble” swimwear. Footwear must be black or white sketchers or Ked-style tennis shoes with NO SOCKS. This phase of competition is designed to see how well the contestant maintains a lifestyle of good physical health, whether she meets the public expectation of a title holder and whether or not she has the confidence needed to be a title holder. (Miss – 15% of score, Teen – 10% of Score)
3) Talent: Talent may be anything you chose that does not cause any health, fire or safety hazards to the audience or damage to the theater, and will be limited to 1 1/2 minutes for Miss and 2 minutes for Teen. Back ground music must be on a CD and turned in before the deadline. (Miss and Teen – 35% 0f Score)
4) Evening Wear: The evening wear phase of competition is designed for the judges to assess the contestant’s beauty, poise, grace and commanding stage presence. Evening gown competition must be a long gown that is tailored appropriately . (Miss – 20% of score, Teen – 15% of Score)
5) On-Stage Question: One generic on-stage question will be asked of each contestant designed for the contestant to make an on-stage statement of her interests, opinions and aspirations. (5% of Score)
Special Awards will be presented to the BEST INTERVIEW, Most Photogenic,(5 X 7 Headshot) Best Talent, Best Evening Gown, Best Swimsuit (Miss), Best Aerobic Wear (TEEN), Miss Congeniality and the People’s Choice Award (winner gets to pick her own Charity and present the proceeds raised that night of the pageant)
DRESS REHEARSAL: Rehearsal will be Saturday, AUGUST 4, 2012 at 8:00AM sharp at the Edinburg North High School Performing Arts Center, BE ON TIME!! This will be a FULL dress rehearsal. Bring all your competition clothing including your interview outfit. Depending on the number of contestants Interviews will start between 12:00PM and 1:00PM. Once I receive all of your paperwork and $100 DEPOSIT/FEE you will receive a schedule of orientation.
The Theme for the Pageant is “DIAMOND JUBILEE PAGEANT” Opening number and on stage introduction wardrobe will be SILVER mirrored cocktail dress for Miss and Owder Blue for Teen with clear heel shoes and rhinestone hoop earrings.
ENTRY FEE: The fee to enter the MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY and MISS TIP OF SOUTH TEXAS Pageant for 2012/2013 is a $100.00 donation in your name to the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Go to
www.MissAmericaforKids.org and registering as a new contestant. (NEW for the 2013 season TEEN’s will have to register as well) If you registered and competed last year, use a new ID to avoid confusion. Register under the title you are competing for: Miss Rio Grande Valley/Miss Tip of South Texas. Set a $100.00 goal and then send e-mails out to all of your friends from the same sight to let them know how they can donate and help you reach your goal. When you register, print your receipt showing you have registered. When you reach your $100.00 goal, print the receipt again and send it to us to put with your paperwork. Be sure you keep a copy for your records also. You will not be allowed to compete without this receipt on file.

TICKETS: There is a reserved seating at the Edinburg North High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be available at the door on competition night. Contestants will have priority for the reserved sets after July 15, 2012 they will be available to the public. Ticket prices are $15.00 for general admission and $25.00 for reserved. CONGRATULATORY ADS: Contestants photos must be a 5 X 7 Black and White photo that is required for the program book.
ALL contestants may sell ads for the program book as well (FOR EVERY FULL PAGE AD SOLD AND PAID BY JULY 15TH 2012 TEXAS SELECT PRODUCTIONS WILL GIVE BACK $25 TO THE CONTESTANT THE NIGHT OF THE PAGEANT AS A SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE so I highly encouraged you to sell the ads to help pay for your entry fee. The more money raised for the program book the more money the production gets to spend on anything the sponsors do not cover for the winners to be prepared for MISS TEXAS and MISS TEXAS OUTSTANDING TEEN. So please sell, sell, sell!!!!!!! The prices for the different sized ads are listed below. More than one business or person may contribute to each ad or page. Ads MUST be camera ready and in layout form. We will not accept any ads that are not camera ready. Only black and white photos will be accepted for ad layouts. These photos are separate from the ones mentioned above and cannot be interchanged. Ad pages must be turned in before July 15, 2012.
Full Page ad $175.00 / Half Page ad $75.00 Black and white pages only. Color full pages are $275.00 no ½color are available.
******Remember the judges will receive a Program book with their package and this will be the first on paper impression they will get of you. The more you can put yourself in front of the judges is always a good thing but not required.
Sell 3 ad pages: Miss and Teens receive a Miss America T-Shirt and a $75 cash scholarship
Sell 4-6 ad pages: Miss and Teens receive a Miss America T-Shirt and $100 to $150 cash scholarship
Sell 7 or more ad pages: Miss receive Children’s Miracle Network donation paid, and Teens receive their entry fee paid! PLUS min $175 up to as many full page ads you sold.
PERFORMANCE VIDEOS and Photos: Videos and photos of the competition will be available. Prices will be announced at a later date.
