So guess what?!?! Its been a straight year of yourz truly DJing at The Midnight, for Tankard Tewsdaes. Yes, i haven't missed...a...single...one. Yayyyyyyy! Mother nature and her elements, my health and its hardships, as well as fights, the police, car troubles, lost jobs, lost shoes, faulty gear, drunk people, vacations and other obligations have been unable to keep me from my duties. I haven't been around since the beginning of the Holy day that is named Tankard, but ever since i was gratefully added to the staff of The Midnight, I've done my best to be there every week for the enjoyment of all you patrons. Not me per se' but the music that i so fondly love. The tunes that provide a laugh, and the mixes that make your body move; the arrangements that create an ever-changing atmosphere that encourages thirst, conversation, dancing and other drinking type things. I cant tell you how good it feels to have someone run up and say, "what is this? I love what you're playing!" or " I haven't heard that song in years. Its the jam!." I really like when happy folks dig it so much that they say, "If you spin this music, then you GOTTA check this artist out!" Giving music back to me wasn't something i thought would be a part of Djing at The Midnight, but it occurs almost weekly. Ive come to trust you all, and what you recommend. This relationship is good to me, so i feel comfortable week to week. More so than any other gig i've ever had! Digging hard for rare gems, creating my mixes, writing strange, witty invites, as well as figuring out the right sound for the right moment that will appeal to the most people possible, is all hard work that i so look forward to. If the Gods are in my favor, may i continue to be there each week, slingin' songs until Gainesville is no longer called home. Thank you everyone at Tankard and to the staff of The Midnight for a damn fine year!
P.S. If all things work out, a very special guest will be attending. Hint: he's the guy that got me into this dang DJ thang twelve years ago! Kinda makes me wonder what life still holds for me if i just stick with what i really love to do. So yes kids, follow your passions. They are the most fulfilling part of one's time on this planet.
