Each First Friday of every month Downtown Raleigh is host to numerous art galleries and shops that stay open later than normal hours to highlight the community and the artwork. It's a great event supporting local art and downtown Raleigh and it takes place rain or shine.

One of the goals of the RYP Group is to give support to quality initiatives such as First Friday and to lend support whenever possible by sharing these events with our members. We did not create this event but we feel it deserves our support.

RYP FIRST FRIDAY events are less of a traditional "meet up" and more of an opportunity for the group to support many downtown artists and venues. Each First Friday we will pick at least one studio/gallery/venue to focus on. Whenever possible we link up with each other and travel between studios as a group, but not always.

There will NOT be a normal sign in desk, name tags or structured format. These specific events are set up to support the overall efforts of First Friday. Therefore it may be difficult to link up with other RYP members but we offer one location as a starting point each First Friday to try and give everybody a chance to join with other familiar faces. In addition, our wall and discussion board serve as a way for members to find each other. Meet Up also offers a very cool app that allows you to check in at each event and see who else is there.
