On July 11th, the immigrant community will stand up to Sheriff Hamilton and demand he restore trust by ending police collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Programs like Secure Communities are responsible for thousands of deportations from Central Texas. Travis County leads the nation in deporting undocumented people with no history of a criminal record. Austin's immigrants contribute immensely to our culture, economy, and heritage, yet they can no longer turn to the police when they are threatened.

Sheriff Hamilton has repeatedly defended the collaboration between ICE and Austin Police. This press conference will kick off a city-wide campaign from immigrant advocates to get ICE out of our jails and to hold Sheriff Hamilton accountable for torn families.
