Huddle up, huddle up.....
Attention Players - We've made it!
It's now officially 2013 and what are we going to do.....? We are going to turn the ((((BASS)))) up.
A *new* year marks the beginning of a *new* calendar and also can be a chance/time to release and let go of things that have come before. This month we shall don our tube socks and sexy/sporty attire as we take our place on the (*newly* remolded and slightly expanded) dancefloor! Lot's of New Things already in store for us......Neat!
With our slates wiped clean and our hopes and dreams for the future in our minds - Now is the perfect time to set the tone for the rest of the year. Join us as we dance off and shake off any lingering bits and pieces of 2012 and open ourselves to all the new possibilities 2013 brings with it.
What better way to break in Rebel's *new* dance floor than to move your body to the sounds and grooves of our own lady of the low end, Dulce Vita! To help us celebrate our first FirstBase gathering of 2013 Dulce is cookin' up something extra special for us! Sounds like: warm,funky, bassy, housey, breaky deliciousness.
Very Special Guests:
////////***** DULCE VITA (http://dulcevita.dj/) will be bumpin' a very special surprise house and breaks set. Get ready for the Funk! *****
::::: ARTIST BIO :::::
Dulce Vita (pronounced dol-sie/vee-tah).
Nationally requested, dancefloor approved! In direct response to specific performances at Burning Man, she has played stages in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Diego, Boise, Tahoe, and Reno - all within these past two years alone. As a DJ performer in San Francisco, how does DV stand out? True individuality happens here as a result of a musical risk. Using the cross fader as her primary canvas with a signature brand of aggressive intent, she performs a sound all her own... an energetic soundscape, including audible hints of nu skool breaks, dubstep, glitch-hop, big beat, chunky electro, filtered disco, tech house, world beats, downtempo, and IDM. Experience a peak hour sound that is funky, grooving, grinding, raw, and twisted - all at once and peppered with feelgood emotion!
Dulce considers any single performance a personal success if she can make a deeply positive impact on at least one person's experience. Since her debut DJ set at Google headquarters in 2004, you might have already experienced her audio collage of eclectic tracks at underground warehouse venues or major nightclubs such as Ruby Skye, The End-Up, 1015, Public Works, Supper Club, Mighty, Mezzanine, Kelly's Mission Rock, DNA Lounge, Temple, Club 6, Paradise Lounge, 550 Barneveld, Shine, Anu, Whisper, etc. In recent past, Dulce was named WINNER of SF Weekly: City of Spin 2009 (Annual DJ Competition) and her performance at Burning Man earned a prestigious mention in international publication 'DJ Mag' within the 2008 issue featuring Top 100.///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
From his early high school years at Chicago’s legendary Medusa’s nightclub, to his recent exploration of house, techno, and disco, Jonboy has embraced all elemental sounds of electronic music. His journey to the decks began in the early ’90s, when he spent weekends listening to the likes of Tommie Sunshine, Psycho Bitch, Felix da Housecat and Moby perform at Medusa’s. The music inspired Jon to attend raves across the city while dancing to the early techno and industrial music of that era.
While attending college in Boston, Jon started listening to big beat electronica, such as the Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy and Fatboy Slim. In addition, seeing live performances by the "superstar" DJs of the mid to late 90s at Karma and Crobar in Chicago, is what inspired him to purchase his own decks in 1999 and take in electronic music to its fullest extent.
In the summer of 2001, he relocated to San Francisco where he was exposed to the funky overtones of West Coast house. Jonboy eventually warmed up to the chunkier beats and now plays a hybrid of house, techno, disco and the occasional breakbeat that he continues to shape today.
Jonboy is currently throwing the Freeform v Dubalicious parties on Third Fridays at F8, in addition to being a resident of the fantastic underground slammers SWAG.

For their first "official Live Tag" FirstBase Proudly presents.....not one but two amazing talents and two of my best buddies! Friends will now go toe to toe behind the decks at FirstBase - RAWK! This is guaranteed to be quite a spectacle folks, and what a way to start this year. Two of my very dear friends, very very near and dear - are taking control of the system for one hour and they will Work You Out on the dancefloor so don't forget to drink some water before you hit the field. Both of these DJ's are masters and craftsmen in their own right. Both artists are polished and seasoned DJ's with a unique polish to their mixing styles and technique's - you guys, I can't wait to be on the dancefloor when these two step up to bat.
