 HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY WOODY!\n
 Join us in a free backyard picnic celebrating the life and music
 of Echo Park resident Woody Guthrie. Enjoy an afternoon concert
 of hip-hop\, blues\, jazz\, psychedelic and bluegrass by
 Woody-inspired musicians. Art activities will take place
 throughout the day. End the day with a second line parade led by
 Superbroke Brass and Tin Marching Band Ensemble.\n

 Woody disappeared from public life 15 years before he died – he
 was suffering from Huntington&#039\;s Disease. During that time
 he become something of a living legend. Folk musicians used to
 put a stone in their shoe to remind them of Woody&#039\;s days
 jumping trains\, hitchhiking on Route 66\, sleeping in
 shantytowns and ditches\, swaping stories with folks down on
 their luck during the Great Depression.\n

 Woody wrote more than 2\,000 songs in his lifetime. Like Walt
 Whitman\, his songs capture the strength and the dignity of the
 American people. One hundred years after his birth\,
 Woody&#039\;s music reminds us that when we stick together and
 listen to one another&#039\;s stories\, &quot\;a better
 world&#039\;s a-coming.&quot\;\n
