Coming fresh off several large-scale mural projects, Barneclo returns to the gallery with a collection of new paintings referencing his interest in music, ecology, community, technology, and the juxtaposition of ancient and modern design ideas. Simultaneously, he explores the oscillation between craft and art; and finding the right balance of "tight" and "loose".

Barneclo recently completed San Francisco's largest public work, the Systems Mural. A monumental 24,000 square-foot mural located near 7th and Townsend Streets, he painted it in just two weeks -- and three years in the making to secure approvals, permits, and funds. Barneclo was also invited last May to paint a mural at the Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park as part of their artist-in-residence program. These two projects, along with existing murals at NoPa restaurant, the San Francisco Bay Guardian Building, and Shotwell/15th Streets, have paved the way for many other private and public commissions throughout Northern California.

Thus Barneclo is excited to present a collection of fine art works for the gallery. More intimate in scale and audience, his new paintings harken back to his diverse free-flow styles while also reflecting his current succinct visual concepts.

Brian Barneclo was born and raised in Indianapolis, then studied painting and art history at Indiana University. He moved to San Francisco in 1996 and began working as a commercial illustrator and sign painter, then found his passion in painting small- and large-scale artistic works. He has adorned the walls of many Bay Area galleries, restaurants, and streets with his colorful jazzy works inspired by life in San Francisco. He was named one of San Francisco's top muralists by 7x7 Magazine in 2008.

Brian Barneclo's solo show will be on exhibit from July 14 to August 20, 2012 at fabric8, 3318 22nd Street near Valencia in San Francisco.
