What happens when you put Marilyn Monroe next to Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in a train sleeping car bound for Florida? Hijinks, of course! Especially when the two gents are escaping the mob by cross-dressing as part of an all-female jazz combo.
Nobody's perfect, but Some Like It Hot just might be. Plus, Brooklyn's very own ukulelist Kohli Calhoun will introduce the movie with tales of her frequent Florida visits, a few ukulele tunes, and a critique of Monroe's "playing" in the film.
Postmark Cafe will be slinging regular menu items including iced coffee and tea, sandwiches, and snacks throughout the night, plus $2 booze for the grown-ups!
This Must Be the Place is a FREE summer screening series in which the location or geography are strong elements in the story. Each screening is preceded by a short film, clip, or special guest having to do with the same Place as the feature. Future screenings will include fun, hot-weather gems like Paper Moon (Kansas), The Cruise (New York City), The Band's Visit (Israel), and Shag: The Movie (South Carolina).
