Social swim in Wastwater, britains deepest, glacial tarn, the laken is surrounded by the most stunning of scenery, Surrounded by mountains, Red Pike, Kirk Fell, Great Gable and Scafell Pike - England's highest mountain. You will not be disappointed.
THE SWIM will take place from the grounds of the youth hostel. Parking available although please be aware that the hostel will not be solely used by us and therefore parking is on a first come first serve basis, there are however other places to park in the vicinity. Sunday after your breakfast you may wish to swim again in the lake or hike to one of the smaller tarns in the area, i will be frequenting wastwater on sunday morning.
ACCOMODATION
There is a youth hostel where the accomodation that is available it
has been reserved for this event HOWEVER places here are limited. i have reserved rooms for both the friday and saturday nights for those that wish to travel up on the friday! Beds are £18 per person per night. Hostel accomodation MUST be paid for upon booking, no monies equal no beds!

the hostal have reserved all currently available rooms for me for this swim however these are only availible for a two week time frame after which they will be available to the general public again.
So if you wish to stay there, either for the friday and saturday or just one day, please contact ME asap.
Further accomodation can be in the form of b and b or camping, all of which are fairly local. One place that looks good is

TRAVEL
There are several routes to get to the tarn, it is to be noted that the tarn can not be approached from the side of the screes by vehicle. For those who want to add to their swim adventure, Hard Knott pass and Wrynose pass can be travelled by vehicle BUT i stress this is not a route for the faint hearted or for large vehicles, i would prefer that you arrived safely!!!!!
As with all of my swims one and all are welcome, age is no limit, children are the responsiblity of their parents, pets are welcome to visit for the day too. Swimmers are welcome to swim as little or as much as they would like too but all swim at your own risk. Canoes and kayaks are also welcome. Come for the weekend or come for the day the choice is yours. Bring a picnic but more importantly bring a smile! WETSUITS OPTIONAL, i swam in wastwater yesterday (21 July) and the temperature was 12 degrees, but felt much warmer. Bring a camera, you will not want to miss the stunning scenery! There will be a cost of £2 per swimmer, to cover the cost of clean up, admin etc, there will also be a payment from this made to a local charity x
