Join us for a day of MUPPET PRIDE as we give our support to the studio who gave so much to us who are locked in a media battle with the Chick-Fil-A corporation over gay rights.
As you may have heard, Jim Henson Studios have terminated their working relationship with Chick-Fil-A over that company's stances on gay rights.
"The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)"

In reaction to that, Chick-Fil-A has allegedly put up signs in stores saying that the Muppets toy promotion was pulled because they claimed that the toys were possibly physically harmful to children.

While I can't personally verify if those last two claims in that story are absolutely true, I do however support this move from the Jim Henson company and feel this world is a little better when we stop worrying about adults who love each other and start worrying about things that effect us more like war and poverty.
What I am proposing is a (sidewalk) Muppet Pride Parade where we walk from the Jim Henson Studios to the Hollywood Chick-Fil-A (which are not that far from each other) on a weekend date in the near future.
Bring your own puppets! Dress like puppets! Sing your favorite Muppets songs! Bring your own signs! Just be respectful to the surrounding neighborhood and stay out of traffic and obey all traffic laws.
This is not about being gay or straight. This is about human rights for everyone and supporting companies that take a firm stand against those who preach intolerance towards others. They have the right to express their opinion and let's express ours in the most colorful and nicest way possible!
Due to people saying they needed more time for costume and puppet making, we've pushed the date to SATURDAY, AUGUST 11TH, 2012 at 4pm in front of JIM HENSON STUDIOS in Hollywood.
Please pass this on to your friends!
