A: Anyone who knows how to swim and is over 18 (or is accompanied by a parent or guardian).
Q: What to bring for kayaking?
A: A lock, swimsuit (or shorts and T-shirt) and a change of clothes (locker, outdoor shower and dressing rooms available)
Q: Are kayaks, paddles and life jackets provided?
A: Yes, and it is absolutely free!
Q: Where will we be kayaking?
A: We'll be staying in the embayment on the south side of Pier 40. This is one of the nicest spots along the Hudson and affords great views of the Statute of Liberty, as well as Manhattan and Jersey City.
Q: How long do we kayak?
A: You can kayak as long as you want.
Q: What is the closest subway stop to Pier 40?
A: Houston Street on the 1 train. Spring Street on C and E also works.
Q: Is kayaking at Pier 40 always free?
A: Yes, Pier 40 is open every Saturday, Sunday and holiday from 9am-6pm through mid-October. Â Pier 40 is also open on Thursday evenings from 5-7pm. Â Click on links below for more info.
