Hi there folks, Chris Brunelle and Cristalle Stutrud are moving away from New York. This night started as farewell for Chris to his main bands while he lived here. We decided to extend that to a farewell between Cristalle/Chris and their friends. Come on down and party before we move. Here's the line-up:
Baby Dayliner
http://www.brassland.org/artist.php?id=135
"Ethan Marunas (aka Baby Dayliner) is a one man wrecking crew. An amazing vocalist, songwriter, producer, and DJ, Baby Dayliner performs both with and without a backing band, often times depending on just a laptop and his microphone. And that seems enough. His clean cut look makes you think he could be fronting the next Joy Division, until you hear his music and discover there’s something a lot different about this guy. Born and raised in New York City, Marunas went to school at the acclaimed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (known from the 1980 film Fame) and his early musical influences were actually classical. At his core, Baby Dayliner is a wordsmith and talented vocalist. This guy knows how to croon with the best of them. He also knows how to deliver incredibly catchy pop songs. It’s a little bit R&B, a little bit pop, but probably one of those things you either love or hate. If you had to describe it to someone, you could call it Sinatra lounge inspired, Casio keyboard, Morrissey karaoke. In other words, absolutely fantastic." = KEXP
Mo Matching Drapes (Classic Line-Up Reunion)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mo-Matching-Drapes/209697309059883?sk=info
Mo Matching Drapes grew out of the home recordings of Chris Brunelle and Paul Bates coupled with a desire to raise money for the local college radio station, WKNH 91.3FM out of New Hampshire. They played their first show in March of 1999 and immediately pursued the music scenes in Boston, Northampton, Providence, and New York City. After a few years frequenting those scenes, MMD moved to NYC and released their first album, “Mo Matching Drapes is the name of a band,” on Please Buy Our Records which charted in the Top 30 steadily throughout college radio in North America and Canada.
The Whisperians (Final Show)
http://thewhisperians.bandcamp.com/
"Bad Things", the third single from The Whisperians, rounds out this week’s releases. The Whisperians create tunes heavily influenced by the indie rock of the 90s. For those looking for a more classic indie sound, The Whisperians encompass the quintessential grunge summer feel…if there’s such a thing." - Madison Silvers, The Deli Magazine
“Chris Brunelle is another excellent songwriter who knows his way around a well-crafted pop song. With The Whisperians, he continues to build an oeuvre of 2-3 minute pearls of prowess that will surely stick in your head for days after hearing” -MOG.COM
El Jezel
http://eljezel.bandcamp.com/
"El Jezel is a three-piece from Queens and they happen to be that rare breed of band who can treat you to a rollicking good time for three songs in a row only to entrance you with an ode to spaghetti westerns the next. Or, the other way around. Sometimes they pull off mindbending genre shifts like this mid-song. They'll go from shoegaze inspired glide to post-rock jam, and back again, leaving you going "hm, wow, what the...I like it!" Then, just when your senses are telling you "more, give more El Jezel" they pull out a cover song and end with "Michigan" - EARFARM"
