Dear JavaScript community,
apps.berlin.js is a Berlin.js spin-off with a special focus on
JavaScript-driven applications (âHTML5 appsâ) running in the browser.
This includes classic desktop browser apps as well as mobile apps and
games written in JavaScript.
Today weâre announcing the second version of apps.berlin.js and weâre
calling for talk proposals.
Short version:
It will take place on August 23th, 7 PM at the co.up coworking space
(Adalbertstr. 7-8, 10999 Berlin, third floor).
If you would like to give a talk or start a discussion, please let us
know!

Full version:
We really enjoyed the first meetup in May at Moviepilotâs office. Thanks
again to everyone who attended! In case youâve missed it, you can read
the slides here:

For the second meetup, weâd like to consider your feedback and change
the schedule a bit. Weâd like toâ¦
- Keep up the high quality talks, but also lower the entry barrier.
- Attract people who are familiar with developing larger JavaScript
apps, as well as people who are new in the apps world.
- Promote discussions and hear more voices from different backgrounds.
Therefore weâre going to haveâ¦
- Two slots for 5-10 min talks + discussion and
- Two slots for 15-20 min talks + discussion
The 5-10 min talks could be like:
- Present a lightning talk about a specific topic.
- Give a hands-on introduction to the world of MVC-style JavaScript.
- Know a JavaScript-driven web app which excels in user experience,
performance or responsiveness?
- Wrote an article, tutorial or demo? Spread the word.
- Got stuck during development? Ask an architectural question to the
community.
etc.
The 15-20 min talks could look like:
- Discuss best practices and patterns for frontend applications.
- Share the lessons you learned in your project.
- Introduce a framework, a library or useful tools.
- Unsatisfied with the current client-side development stack? Time for a
proper rant.
etc.
In the upcoming apps.berlin.js meetings, weâd like to bring people on
the stage who havenât spoken before and probably hesitate to present.
Everyone of us does interesting stuff on the interwebs, and we want to
hear what you have to say.
If youâre into HTML5 apps and would like to give a talk, but youâre
unsure about the topic or the structure and need some input, we might
help you.
In the spirit of , weâre setting up a
mentoring team to answer your questions, give speaking and slidedeck
advice, and more. If it doesnât work out for the August meetup, no
worries, there will be a next app.berlins.js.
Got an idea for a talk? Further questions?
Send us a mail to mathias.schaefer@9elements.com.
Regards
The apps.berlin.js team
