The Alzheimer's Astronauts present their first benefit concert at The Jazzschool. Come be a part of this magnificent event and help the Astronauts expand their musical endeavors to ameliorate the lives of many oft-forgotten populations in our community!
Since 2010, Astronaut members have been performing concerts at the Alzheimer's Services of the East Bay Center in Berkeley, CA.

The mission of The Astronauts has been to raise community awareness for Alzheimer's patients and to simultaneously provide a much-needed service to the people affected with the disease. They have found that music offers undoubtedly strong therapy in a way that other forms of therapy cannot.
Group members:
Patrick Malabuyo, trombone
Martin Blank, alto and tenor sax
Rikki Gibson, guitar
Bil Hager, bass
Eli Goldlink, piano
Marshall Dean Williams, drums
Shawn Whitehorn, guest vocalist
Here's an interesting article about the effect of music on Alzheimer's patients:

The proceeds from this concert will go towards augmenting the group's reach, allowing it to travel to other therapy centers, hospitals, homes for the elderly, and hospices around the bay area. After seeing the benefits that their music has brought to the patients at ASEB and to themselves, The Astronauts are thrilled with the prospect.
