Back when there were more record stores in Boston than anywhere else in the world, there was an Other Music location across the park from Tower Records. There, Andre Obin and David Day would obsess over the latest imported records from Europe and their stylish minimal techno, using so little to create something so large.

Genres have changed and those stores are gone, but Andre and David would remain locked at a kind of music-obsessive hip. Never, strangely, had Obin DJed at Day's night Make It New. All this changes this week. Like resident John Barera, Andre has also stormed Europe, playing Trouw Amsterdam, one of the most important nightclubs in the world. Obin has also released his masterpiece of techno: Nightowl. A barnstorming ode to minimal techno's sometimes brutal strength. Released on July 23rd via the Klopfgeist label, it's been in the mix of literally some of the world's biggest DJs.
