If there is one thing Columbus folk prove time and again it's that we rally around our own when they face adversity. That's why our community is greater than cancer! That's why we will come together to stand with our friend Vincent De Francisco and his fight against cancer! Those who know Vinny, love Vinny, and know he is a fighter. We want to do our part in helping him and his family face down this obstacle!

Recently, Vinny DeFrancisco (@VinnyDF) was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an agressive cancer of the plasma. As you may know, Vinny has two children under the age of 4. Additionally, Vinny owns his own business, and their insurance does not fully cover the most aggressive treatment - stem cell replacement. It will leave Vinny and his wife with about $50,000 in medical bills. Vinny has been fortunate to get into the care program at The James; however, to receive the stem cell replacement, Vinny has to pay a $10,000 "down payment" before they will admit him.

As with any major illness, increased stress does not support healing and fighting the disease. We want Vinny to focus more on fighting cancer and less on money matters. To help, we are putting together an event on August 28th at Callahan's Rooftop Patio called "Community > Cancer." The proceeds from the evening will go directly to Vinny and his wife.

Part of the evening will involve a silent auction. We are soliciting donations from various local businesses that we can auction off on the night of the event. We'll take whatever you are willing to give - the bigger the better.

We really want to raise the $10K that would allow Vinny and his wife to focus on getting the treatment he needs. To do that, we need help. It's going to take a community effort. Can you help us rally the community to prove that "Community > Cancer"?
