Ready a room at the Hotel California! What? You've never been? Well I say we go. Especially since the ride there is such crazy fun!

This is one of the most beautiful local rides there is (check out the background photo at our website for a taste). We start off on the world famous Mulholland Hwy, Snake and all, and follow that all the twisty way to the even more twisted fun of Decker Canyon. Decker (aka Westlake Blvd to the east) takes us to the more serene gentle curves and horse farms of Potrero Rd. Soothing, calm, but then the differently twisted fun starts. The stretch of Potrero Road that leads up to the Hotel California (aka Camarillo State Mental Hospital, now known as Cal State Channel Islands) is truly spectacular riding. Something not to be missed.

From the Hotel we'll change up the pace and go west to the PCH for some fast costal highway riding (55mph+) down to Neptune's Net where we'll take a break, eat, drink, and be merry.

For the return trip, depending on how tired we're feeling and where the group wants to finish, we have a couple of options:

cruise down the PCH to Decker Cyn and head back inland to Mulholland Hwy and our original meetup spot.
cruise down the PCH to Topanga Cyn and head back inland to our original meetup spot. Or
cruise down the PCH to Sunset Blvd and head back inland

 

SUGGESTED GEAR

There are some twisty demanding sections to this ride so we suggest... armored abrasion resistant gear, riding gloves, over-ankle riding boots...

Also, bring water.

 

WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS

If it is raining on the day of the ride (Saturday) the ride will be moved to Sunday. If it is raining again on Sunday, the ride will be cancelled.

 

NOW, THE SERIOUS STUFF

THIS IS LONG AND DIFFICULT RIDE. DEFINITELY NOT FOR BEGINNERS. IT IS TIRING, TECHNICALLY DEMANDING FROM START TO FINISH, AND INCLUDES ALL THE HAZARDS COMMON TO TWISTY CANYON RIDING. CRASHES IN THESE CANYONS ARE COMMON. IF YOU HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY RIDDEN THIS LENGTH AND DIFFICULTY OF A ROUTE PLEASE DO NOT COME ON THIS RIDE. IT IS A DANGER TO YOU AND TO THE WHOLE GROUP. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIRST ENJOY SOME EASIER GROUP RIDES WITH OUR FRIENDS AT THE LA SCOOTER MEETUP GROUP. THEN COME JOIN US ON ONE OF OUR EASIER RIDES LATER WHEN YOU HAVE A FEW MORE MILES UNDER YOUR BELT.

 

This is a crazy fun ride through some of the best and most differently twisted roads that SoCal has to offer. If you miss this ride you must be nuts!
