Join us for our second Hike n' Hack (Kisha's brilliant idea)! Let's meet early and go for a short, brisk walk Redwood Regional Preserve. This is an easy trail--and short (3.7 miles, 2 hours MAX) , so if you are not typically very active, don't be intimidated! Once I get a better idea of who wants to join us, I'll bump up the challenge in future Hike n' Hacks if demand calls for it. We'll wait for stragglers at the trailhead for 15 minutes and then we'll depart.
The nearest BART station is Fruitvale. Please note in your RSVP two things: 1) whether or not you can bring passengers from other areas--or if you need a ride, and 2) if you will be joining us at the cafe only.
Ok, what about the hack part? What is this "Hike & Hack?"
Are we hacking while hiking? Nooooo, we are not! After we get our blood pumping, brains oxygenated and a little dose of endorphins to focus, we'll reconvene at the Arbor Cafe to hack on some Ruby on Rails together. Tutorials? Your favorite project? Bring it! Location for this portion is going to be at the Arbor Cafe which is about 15 minutes away. There is free wifi, good tunes, good food and plenty of space! Let's plan on being at the cafe no later than noon.
Please wear comfortable clothing (layers preferable), shoes appropriate for walking on dirt trails, and some water so you are hydrated. Plan on carrying your laptop in a comfortable bag or backpack with you, since I can't advise you to leave your laptop in the parking lot.
