Spin지에서 그들의 음악을 묘사해 달라고 부탁하자, PS I Love You 의 보컬과 기타, 베이스를 맡고 있는 Paul Saulnier는 이렇게 답했다. “전 단지 열정을 갖고 연주하려고 합니다.”
물론, 열정 그리고 날것의 감정이야 말로 그들의 음악에 고스란히 담겨있는 정서이다.
밴드는 온타리오 주 킹스턴 출신으로, 기타를 맡은 Saulnier와 드럼을 맡은 Benjamin Nelson으로 이루어 져 있다. 춤추기 알맞을 정도로 캐치하면서도 실험적인 소리를 들려주다가도, 이윽고 죽음과 같은 무거운 주제에 대해 생각하게 만드는 감성적인 음악을 한다. Saulnier의 내지르는 보컬과 거친 기타솔로는 단지 청각을 넘어선 음악 체험을 가능케 한다. 그 스스로는 몸이 느낄 정도로 큰 소리로 연주하는 밴드들에게서 영감을 얻었다고 할 뿐이지만.
이들은 2010년 데뷔앨범 Meet Me at the Muster Station으로 비평가들에게 찬사를 받았고 Saulnier는 최근 Spin지 선정 위대한 기타리스트 100인에 포함되기도 하였다. PS I love you는 이번 9월 6일 서울 POWWOW와 7일 대구 Horus 그리고 8일 부산 Vinyl Underground에서 첫 내한 공연을 갖는다.

“I’m just trying to play with passion,” Paul Saulnier, PS I Love You’s vocalist/guitarist/ bassist, responded when asked by Spin magazine to describe the duo’s sound. Indeed passion and raw emotion are abundant in the band’s noisy, guitar-heavy rock music.
The band, comprised of Saulnier and Benjamin Nelson (drums), hail from Kingston, Ontario, and create experimental sounds that are at times catchy enough to dance too, while at others emotional enough to contemplate such heavy subjects as mortality, one of the many themes on their sophomore album Death Dreams. Saulnier’s high, yelping voice and boisterous, impressive guitar solos create a solid music experience that goes beyond just the audio aspect. Saulnier himself describes his inspirations as bands that play music “loud enough to feel inside your body.”
