Greetings DevOp-ers!
Wave Accounting has graciously offered to host, sponsor and even present at our next event! There will be some munchies, drinks and two fantastic talks. So come on out and get your DevOps on!
Vagrant - Vince Puzzella
Wave Payroll uses Vagrant to onboard developers and provision development environments quickly. It used to take up to 2 days to get a developers environment up and running - now it takes ~30 minutes. Vince will describe how we have Vagrant set up for the Payroll developers and what decisions he made when integrating Chef with Vagrant.
Deployment - Nathan Duthoit
Wave Accounting has always used fabric to deploy our website. As the application grew, downtime for database schema migrations, roll-back strategies, background task management and other operational issues started to become issues. Nathan will describe what our past deployment looked like, what our current deployment structure looks like, what our pain points were and how we are trying to overcome them.
