Telling stories with data has never been more compelling -- if you know how to do it. From ProPublica's data sleuthing to the best of what's possible on FlowingData and Information is Beautiful, engineers and journalists are crafting new ways to explain our world with data.
We'll take a look at the tools and techniques that turn raw datasets into investigative stories and digital products to grab a digital audience. Todd Holloway, the senior data science lead at Trulia, the modern equivalent of a newspaper real estate section, and Chase Davis, Director of Technology at the Center for Investigative Reporting, will discuss these topics  (and what they do every day). As the Guardian says about DIY data storytelling, "Data is the new punk."
We'll wrap up with a lightning talk for hackers with datasets to meet hacks with story concepts!
