The Last Lecture Series is back!
Better Photography and Piramal Art Gallery, NCPA bring you the second session of The Last Lecture Series. This time around, we have interactive talks by David de Souza and Ketaki Sheth.
David de Souza is a photographer who enjoys making photographs of subjects of special interest to him, entirely for his own delectation. Many ask him what he intends to do with these photos and he most often only manages an incoherent answer. He would love to see his work form monographs, especially as he has been most inspired by a long list of photographers and writers from across the world.
His interests for the last five years have been, Indian mythology, and its interpretation in a contemporary way. His current obsession is with Dreams and 3D.
Meanwhile, Ketaki Sheth needs no introduction. She began taking pictures of Bombay in the late 1980s, under the guidance of renowned photographer Raghubir Singh. Her fascination with the city of Bombay and its teeming masses extends beyond the three P’s most other photographers seem intrigued by; namely the poverty, the population and the pollution of the city.
Her portraiture work in 'Twinspotting: Photographs of Patel Twins in Britain and India' was followed by a second book, 'Bombay Mix' that encourages the viewers to rethink the way they see the city.
As of now, she is in the middle of developing upcoming projects and continues to explore her passion for working with distinct cultures and communities.
