The word alone can inspire a debate among SEO practitioners. It’s the life blood of ongoing SEO efforts and a source of potential manual action penalties. There’s a fine line between scalable link-building and ranking manipulation. Many old tactics simply don’t work anymore. What is acceptable today, might be over the line in the future. For many, links are harder than ever to earn.
It’s not time to give up on link building. It’s time to learn about what to do in the new world of links.
There is one constant in link building. Good organic links start with great and unique content. While this is easier said than done, there is plenty of future to gaining true, organic, links.
The good news of link building comes from the new channels which allow the spread of content nearly instantaneously. Social channels have allowed savvy search engine marketers to get the attention of online influencers. New tools have allowed the discovery of previously hidden gems for content promotion. Sharing on bookmarking sites can drive thousands to a site in a few hours, some of whom will share content further.
In the future we can expect this to go even further. Emerging ranking methods such as AuthorRank may work with links to offer deeper power for true influencers.
To lead us through the new world of links, we will have a presentation by Rob Garner. Rob sits on the board of SEMPO, writes for Media Post and is currently finishing the book “Search and Social: The Definitive Guide to Real-Time Content Marketing”
Don’t get left behind with old link tactics. Listen to one of the leaders in content marketing talk about scalable and sustainable link strategies. This is not a presentation to be missed.
