I have Cervical Cancer caused by HPV that was offered up in my first marriage from an unfaithful husband. The gift lasting longer than the vows; I am living a wanderful dream with a hiccup. Regardless of the rumors and opinions, HPV does not just affect one type of person. It can affect anyone that has intercourse with a man that carries the virus. The men may or may not have symptoms, so they are not likely to know that it exists inside of them. That being said, not all men that carry are bad people. It simply means that they slept with a carrier at some point in their sexual life. Every case is different, as is every person, and every outcome. The battle of the vaccine brought it out of the shadows. We must not let it retreat back to them.
This Cancer threat will grow as the instances of HPV compound in young men and women. Like all others, it only takes once and I refuse to live life like a victim. It is an easy fight to win when it it is caught and treated early, so there is no need to suffer, or fear. It is a very slow moving condition, taking years to develope into cancer, so that it is very easy to control long before it becomes dangerous. Regular Check ups can catch it easily. While it will never be cured, It WILL ALWAYS be controllable.
I want to use my win over the cancer as a stepping stone to raise awareness. There are entire busses that tour the nation offering up free mamograms to stop the growth of breast cancer. I would like to set the goal of making paps available at little or no cost so that we can stop the unneccesary growth of HPV and all of its complications. Please join me.
