Dear Bedales class of 1985
Hi all,
Blast from past.........- english was never my forte, nor is production so forgive me in advance.
I have been asked to get this show on the road so am trying to get in touch with you all. Not an easy task.
Apologies for the email, I have bcc you all in, so if you would rather not be known to everyone on future email lists I would be grateful if you could let me know, likewise if you would like me to cc’ you in so you can get in touch with other school friends let me know too.
I have also set up a facebook event Bedales 25 year reunion
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=206633952565&ref=ts, if you would like to join that too, it could be another way of getting everyone back in touch, should you wish to.
Next thing........
We have a reunion to sort. A party to have. Smiles to be worn and laughter to be heard.
I would LOVE some help.
I am based in London, but I don’t think it matters where we all are based, a good old party can be organised remotely surely.
The date is : 26/27 June 2010
Vague plan: having spoken to a couple of folks from our year, they felt we should not necessarily encourage us to bring our families with us – it might be more fun to be young, free and single again for a weekend. That is not meant as it is written. If you would like to bring your families, friends, partners, kids, pets etc of course you are more than welcome, or maybe Sunday could be a day for that ?? Do let me/us know all thoughts.
I have not been back to Bedales for quite a long time, but I hear a lot has changed, so on the Saturday we could tip up and have a lunch around the barn area, which will be our base. See if any of us actually recognise each other and eat a simple lunch.....we are having some food supplied by the school ,I think (Dennis ??), but I will do some serious research into exactly what that means and keep you all closely in touch. Then we could wander around the school for the afternoon and catch up with all those memories etc.... In the evening it could be fun to do an informal dinner of sorts in the barn.... create a feast of a kind, maybe cook a pig, ? ( Charlie, king of food, this could be something that might be up your street ?) If we could borrow tables, run them down the middle of the barn, decorate it a bit , that does not mean painting a quick mural on the barn wall. Does anyone still play any musical instruments, could we have an impromptu concert of sorts ? In any genre......maybe knock up a quick play Eddie ? Direct a round of charades then ?? And I feel we probably need to drink a bottle or two for old times sake. Has anyone perfected the home brew yet ? I hear Monty is a bit of a booze boffin.
I am not sure of many or any of the many talents that you now all hold that could be brought to the table, but please do share them
Sunday morning: drink a lot of tea and coffee, drink a lot more tea and coffee, eat a large bacon sarnie or two and head up stoner to the poets stone. Neil, do you still play the trumpet ?? This could be a magical moment.
Re sleeping arrangements for those that would like to stay the night, camping is the obvious option, we have been given permission to camp around the barn area. ( Dennis is there running water and loos etc there ??)
I believe there are b&b’s in the area, I have not had a chance to look yet or does anyone know anyone who lives locally that we might be able to camp at theirs.......??
Hurdles we have to cross: ( I am sure there are many other things which need to be pointed out – do point them out )
‘Jelly ‘ has already got his finger on the pulse and let us know that this particluar evening is one of a football significance, world cup and all. We might have to get a large screen of some kind..........not sure we would all fit into a pub – and find our way back, and staring at iphones to catch the football action is not considered sociable, Sasha, do I have memories of you doing that with earphones catching up with the cricket??
The long and short of it all is:
We have a reunion, we have a great year of amazing people, we have a venue and no one is going to lead the way and throw the party for us.
I am happy to be a holder for names and acceptances etc and be a liaison but if anyone who has better production skills thank me, do step forward.
