FIELDHEAD (Static Caravan/Home Assembly Music) [www.myspace.com/fieldhead]
Fieldhead is P. Elam (a resident of Leeds, UK). He produces ambient/electronic music that delights in tape hiss, geography, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. He is also a full time member of The Declining Winter and a part time member of Glissando's Fleeting Glimpse Ensemble. He is ably assisted by violinists S. Kemp and E. Reynolds.
"...paints atmosphere better than a whole ream of his electronica comtemporaries ever could, creating unhealthy amounts of awe with his string slices and distortion washes..." - Rock a Rolla
"This hauntological hip-hop opus is really quite special, and certainly with songs like 'I'm Fond Of Maps' (think Burial, circa 1920) and 'He'd Found The Sea' there's an indication of exciting things to come from this artist. Highly recommended." - Boomkat
THE PATTERN THEORY [www.myspace.com/thepatterntheory]
The Pattern Theory met through a common love of instrumental music and a desire to combine the beauty of rhythmical complexity with the emotional impact of minimal harmonies and melodies. Formed in Leeds, England in spring 2007 they self-released their first EP (EP1), which received excellent reviews (including The Guardian and Drowned in Sound) and extensive radio play (including Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio One show), they re-located to Berlin in 2008. Live, the band play six instruments simultaneously, with no backing tracks being used at any point.
“Very promising, like Yo La Tengo in mellow mood doing an Ali Farka Toure tribute.” - THE GUARDIAN
“Interweaving individual threads of guitar, bass and drums which fit together into something that’s part melody, part algorithm... like Battles but much more organic” - MANCHESTER MUSIC
