Le vendredi 7 mai prochain, PechaKucha Montréal et l’arrondissement de Ville-Marie organiseront une soirée de présentations autour du passé, du présent et de l’avenir du boulevard Saint-Laurent ” – de la rue Sherbrooke au boulevard René-Levesque
Jadis épicentre de la vie montréalaise, le boulevard Saint-Laurent, entre les rues Sherbrooke et le boulevard René-Levesque, est aujourd’hui en quête d’une nouvelle identité.
Frontière imaginaire, patrimoine immatériel, Est-West, red-light, prohibition, faune urbaine, nightlife, espaces vacants, topographie, architecture, développement immobilier, salles de spectacle, commerces, logements, parcs, skates, néons, sens unique, métro, héritage culturel, environnement sonore, enseignes, festivals, musique, touristes et hotdogs; autant de pistes de réflexion qui peuvent mener à la régénération de cette artère mythique.
Nous sommes à la recherche de présentateurs qui souhaitent communiquer leur vision de l’avenir de ce segment du boulevard. Architectes, artistes, designers, urbanistes, historiens, sociologues ou simples citoyens, tous peuvent soumettre leurs idées. Pour ce faire, vous devez nous proposer un court texte de 250 mots décrivant votre approche ainsi que 3 images représentatives (format JPEG). Vous pouvez déposer votre soumission sur le site Pecha Kucha Montréal avant le 5 avril 2010. Nous vous informerons d’ici le 12 avril si votre présentation a été choisie.
Les présentations auront le format PechaKucha (20 diapositives projetées chacune durant 20 secondes). Lors de la soirée, nous serons heureux d’offrir à chaque présentateur deux consommations gratuite au bar lors de l’événement.
Il est à noter que le présentateur conservera la pleine propriété intellectuelle des idées et projets présentés lors de l’événement, mais que celui-ci s’engage à accorder un droit de diffusion et de publication de sa présentation à PechaKucha Montréal et à l’arrondissement de Ville-Marie pour une durée indéterminée.

On Friday May 7th, PechaKucha Montréal in collaboration with the borough of Ville-Marie will host presentations on the past, present and future of the “Main” – from Sherbrooke Street to René-Levesque Boulevard.
In former times, the St-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke and René-Levesque was the epicentre of Montreal life. Now this stretch of the Boulevard is searching for a new identity.
Imaginary frontier, intangible heritage, Est-West, red-light, prohibition, urban fauna, nightlife, vacant lots, topography, architecture, property development, concert halls, shops, housing, parks, skateboards, neon lights, one-way, metro, identities, cultural heritage, festivals, music, tourists and hotdogs; a few starting points to inspire your own (re-)definition of this mythical part of the city.
We are looking for presenters who would like to communicate their vision for the future of this stretch of the boulevard. Architects, artists, designers, urban designers, historians, sociologists or concerned citizens, all are welcome to submit their ideas. To do so, send us a short description of your concept (250 words) and 3 representative images (JPEG format). Submission can be made on the site Pecha Kucha Montreal before April 5, 2010. We will notify you by April 12 if your presentation has been selected.
The presentations will take the PechaKucha format (20 slides, each displayed 20 seconds) Presenters will each receive two drink tickets for the bar.
Please be aware that the intellectual property of all ideas and projects presented that night will remain under the ownership of their presenter. However, by participating in the event, the presenter accepts that they grant diffusion and publication rights of their presentation to PechaKucha Montreal and to the borough of Ville-Marie for an unlimited duration.
We hope you will consider submitting a proposal and look forward to seeing you on Friday May 7th 2010.
