Topic: "The Power in Our Hands" -- Making the World a Better Place through Mobile Donations
by Nhat Vuong
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This month we welcome Nhat Vuong as our featured speaker at PCC #72, "The Power in Our Hands" -- Making the World a Better Place through Mobile Donations. Nhat is a Vietnamese war refugee, who grew up in Switzerland. After working in the IT sector for 3 years in Japan, he decided to put his energy into improving the lives of others through mobile technologies. Nhat's ambitious project is called ikifu.org.
ikifu.org is a social network that will help reduce the gap between NPOs and their supporters like never before. For the first time in Japan supporters will be able to make donations to various NPOs by using their mobile phones. ikifu.org is more than a donation platform, it is an empowering tool for the NPOs and the general public that shows that we have the power in our hands to create the change in the world that we want to see.
Nhat will explain what this project is all about and how we can all eventually get involved in making the world a better place. He will also explain what goes into starting a mobile venture in Japan. While ikifu.org is a non-profit organization, the lessons Nhat has learned can be applied to anyone wanting to start or develop a mobile business in Japan. Of course, anyone involved in NPOs or interested in fundraising for NPOs will find Nhat's talk highly informative. ikifu.org is truly a revolutionary and much overdue project in Japan.
