Knowledge Futures: Discontinuities, Disruptions, and Possibilities, an ongoing series sponsored by the Halle Institute, brings together interdisciplinary scholars from across the world to discuss transformations and emerging practices in research and scholarship, media practices, and emerging forms of collaboration and communication.
Description of Spring 2010 Forum:
The 21st century brings extraordinary discontinuities and new possibilities in challenging the traditional venues of knowledge creation, capture, morphology, and distribution – many that have little changed in centuries. The April 26, 2010 event is sponsored by The Halle Institute, Robert W. Woodruff Library, and The Goizueta Business School, The Mellon Foundation along with many external sponsors.
Significant challenges remain in the exercise of new and emerging digital capabilities - and even greater opportunities. These issues are at the intersection of the interests of all academic and social communities. The issues strike at the essence of epistemology, knowledge management, education, and learning. They challenge science, education, social institutions, and the academy itself.
